Why Indians love "WHITE SKIN" ?
For evolutionary reasons, we prefer people with good genes and high status and also we try to be like them. Lets take for example Shahrukh Khan , both genders are completely fascinated by him.
Women want him for mating reasons. Women are inclined to seek men with high status and good genes (i.e. beauty or handsomeness or six pack abs are proxy for good genes). It is obvious that SRK has both the traits in extreme amounts. Men want to be like him because then they can get all the girls.
As we know before British rule we lived under monarchy for a long time and hence we were ruled by kings . Also India was always agriculture-dominant society. So, Most people worked in the fields while kings and their councils reveled in the privilege and debauchery. Naturally, People working in fields became dark skinned after years of sun exposure while upper class sat in their castles and not become dark skinned. So we started to corelate light skin with privilege and high status on the other hand darker skin associated with low status and poverty.
Also, people with dark skin were more like to have bruises and asymmetrical faces. In biology asymmetry is associated with genetic disorder and disease in addition they suffered malnutrition and starvation which led to poor development while Aristocrats were highly nourished, were properly developed and were better looking and had light skin.
Later, Britishers came knocking and this difference became extremely clear .
Rulers were white as hell and clearly high status were healthy on the other hand common people were dark skinned, skinny and pale.
To make matters worse they started demonizing us as lower race cause we were dark skinned. they tried to indoctrinate and bully us into submission that we were somehow less than cause we had different levels of melanin in skin.
Years later this bias that white means powerful and desirable and black means bad remains. It certainly sticks with me now that I have realized that its based on flawed reasoning, I have began to reduce affect of this bias on me I hope you will also choose the right way.
